Product details
The Flexible CNC Plasma Cutter is a highly portable, computer-controlled cutting solution that you can transport to any job site. It's small enough for two people to carry, not tow, and is ready to cut steel wherever you place it. It operates on standard 220V power and offers both plasma and oxy-fuel cutting in one integrated unit.
What makes it 'flexible' is the ability to choose your cutting method. Utilize plasma for thinner steel sheets and switch to oxy-fuel for thicker gauges, all within the same machine. It also includes a handy graphic library with 54 common shapes, saving you the trouble of drawing many designs. Just select your shape, enter its size, and start cutting.

Understanding Plasma and Flame Cutting
Plasma cutting is quite simple. An electrical arc is sent through compressed air, turning it into plasma – a gas heated to around 25,000°C. This extreme heat melts the steel, and the air pressure blows away the molten material.
A lightweight gantry supports the torch. Stepper motors drive it along rack and pinion tracks. Your design file is read by the CNC controller, which guides the torch's exact path. The cutting path is visible in real-time on the screen.
One feature that proves more important than many realize is automatic torch height control. Steel plates aren't always flat and can have waves or bumps. The arc voltage automatically adjusts the torch's height, constantly measuring its distance to the plate as it moves. Without this, the torch might hit high spots or miss low spots, disrupting the cut.
On thin to medium sheets, plasma is about ten times faster than oxy-fuel cutting, reaching speeds of up to 8000 mm/min for thinner stock. The edge will have a slight angle and some dross that needs to be removed – this is inherent to plasma cutting.
Flame cutting uses a gas torch (oxygen with acetylene or propane) to heat steel to its burning point. It's slower but can cut through thicknesses that plasma cannot. Once you exceed 30–40mm, flame cutting becomes the only viable option. Standard thickness is up to 150mm, and this can be extended with the right equipment. The cut quality is cleaner and straighter than plasma, but it leaves a heat-affected zone that may need preparation before welding.
Matters needing attention
Air Quality: Wet air from compressors can quickly ruin plasma consumables like nozzles, sometimes within minutes. Make it a habit to drain your compressor daily and use a filter-dryer.
Consumables:Using the wrong nozzles and electrodes for your material and thickness can cause problems. Always check compatibility.
THC (Torch Height Control):This system needs to be calibrated for every material thickness. Skipping calibration can lead to crashes or a lost arc.
Gas Pressure:Incorrect gas pressure is also an issue. Too little oxygen will prevent penetration, while too much is just a waste of gas.
Grounding:A solid ground connection is crucial for plasma cutting. Poor grounding results in an unstable arc.

FAQ
The control screen is currently in Chinese. Can I switch it to English?
Yes. The Shanghai Fangling F2100B supports multiple languages. The language setting is in the system menu. If you need help, we can guide you through it during installation – takes about two minutes.
How do I cut multiple identical parts on a long plate without re-measuring?
The CNC controller remembers positions. Use the "step and repeat" function in the StarCAM nesting software – you set the spacing between parts once, and the machine cuts the pattern across the entire plate. No measuring tape needed. The controller handles it.
How do you prevent plate movement during cutting on a job site?
The weight of the plate usually holds it – steel is heavy. But for thin sheets or windy conditions, use clamps or magnets. Some customers place sandbags or steel weights on the corners. Flexible CNC Plasma Cutter cutting forces are minimal – the torch doesn't push the plate, it just melts metal. As long as the plate won't slide from vibration, you're fine.
What if the plate has rust or scale – do I need to clean it first?
For plasma, rust and scale are generally fine – the arc cuts through it. It might reduce consumable life slightly, but it won't stop the cut. For flame cutting, rust on thick plate is usually fine too. If the plate is heavily painted or has oil, clean the area where the ground clamp attaches – good ground connection matters more than a clean cutting surface.
