It uses a lighter gantry structure-typically aviation-grade aluminum-that reduces overall weight while maintaining the rigidity needed for accurate cutting. The machine handles sheet sizes up to 1500×3000mm (5×10 feet) and uses a fiber laser source ranging from 1000W to 3000W. What makes it "entry level" isn't lower quality-it's the smart reduction of features you don't need. You're not paying for a 6000W laser when you're cutting 6mm plate. You're getting the power you actually use at a price that makes sense.
Why Aluminum for the Gantry?
The gantry is the moving bridge that carries the cutting head. Every time it accelerates, changes direction, or moves at high speed, its weight affects performance.
The material logic. The gantry is made from aviation-grade aluminum. Here's why this matters: a well-designed aluminum extrusion with internal ribbing delivers the same bending stiffness as a steel beam while weighing about 40% less. Stiffness comes from the cross-sectional shape, not just the material.
What this means in practice. A lighter gantry means smaller servo motors, lower power consumption, and faster acceleration. Positioning speeds reach 100 m/min. The drive system uses precision rack-and-pinion with dual-side servo motors.
What you give up. A lighter gantry doesn't damp vibration as well as a heavy steel one. On thin materials (under 6mm), you won't notice a difference. On very thick materials (over 16mm), a steel gantry provides some damping benefit. For most shops cutting 6–10mm material, the lighter gantry performs just as well.

Foundation: A simple level concrete floor is all that's needed. No special reinforced foundation is necessary.
Power: A 1000W system typically uses 5-10kW. The 3000W system uses 15-20kW. For higher power models, you'll need 380V three-phase power.
Gas: You'll need oxygen for cutting steel and nitrogen for stainless steel and aluminum. Make sure both gases are clean and dry.
Setup Time: Expect 2-4 business days from delivery until the machine is ready for its first cut.

Entry-level machines typically range from 1kW to 3kW; heavy-duty machines go up to 12kW and beyond. Cut quality and accuracy are the same. If you're running one shift, the entry-level machine is fine.
Does the machine require a special foundation?
No. Entry-level gantry systems are lighter than heavy-duty systems, so a level concrete floor is sufficient. No reinforced foundation is required.
What's the typical delivery time?
Standard configurations ship in 30–45 days. Custom configurations may take 45–60 days. Installation and commissioning add 2–4 business days after delivery.
