Here's a breakdown of how the machine works

The Mini Tube Laser Cutter uses two chucks, one at the front and one at the back. The rear chuck pushes the tube forward, while the front chuck holds it securely during cutting. Both chucks are powered by servo motors and can turn together. When the machine is feeding, the rear chuck advances the tube and the front chuck releases. For cutting, both chucks lock in place and rotate in unison, ensuring the tube remains stable throughout.

The cutting head moves along the X-axis on a gantry beam, driven by a servo motor and a rack and pinion setup. The Z-axis controls the vertical movement of the laser head, which can operate on its own or in conjunction with the X and Y axes.

The laser beam originates from a fiber laser source and travels via a fiber optic cable to the cutting head. It then focuses on the tube's surface. The metal absorbs the laser's energy, melts, and is expelled by an assist gas – oxygen for steel or nitrogen for stainless steel.

Everything is managed by a CNC control system. You input a CAD design, the nesting software plans the cutting path, and the machine handles the entire process, from feeding and clamping to rotating and cutting, and finally unloading. It operates autonomously.

Motion Test:We run each axis through its full range, listening for unusual sounds, checking for any stiffness, and verifying smooth acceleration and deceleration.
Laser Power Test:The laser source is tested at its rated power, with its actual output measured against the target. We also confirm beam quality and focus stability.
Cut Test:Using actual carbon steel and stainless steel tubes, we cut samples and inspect the edges for smoothness and dross. Dimensions are checked against the drawing. If a machine doesn't meet these standards, it doesn't ship.
Chuck and Support Test:We repeatedly cycle the chuck to clamp, release, and rotate, ensuring the support system accurately tracks the tube's position across various diameters.
Safety Systems Test:Every emergency stop, interlock, and light curtain is thoroughly tested.
