Ground Rail Laser Cutter

Traditional laser cutters have rails on the table, which holds both the material and the rails. This works fine for standard material sizes. However, when cutting very long plates (12, 16, or 24 meters), the weight of the material and the heat from cutting can cause the rails to shift, resulting in accuracy problems.

Ground rail laser cutters solve this issue. Their rails are fixed directly to the factory floor, separate from the worktable. The material sits on its own support bed, and the gantry travels along these floor-mounted rails. Because the plate's weight and heat don't affect the rails, accuracy remains consistent, even for the longest pieces.

With a ground rail machine, bevel cutting truly shines. It allows you to cut the bevel directly into the plate in one go, eliminating the need for a separate beveling step. This translates to saving on another machine, an extra operator, and additional setup time.

The machine can handle V, X, and Y-type bevels up to 45 degrees. Guide rails are the most expensive mechanical components. They are ground and attached to the foundation, needing regular cleaning and lubrication. While these rails are separate from the cutting area and cleaner than others attached directly to the machine, they still need attention.

Protective lenses, found at the bottom of the cutting head, are the most fragile parts. Cutting thick plates creates more intense spatter, so clean them daily with lens paper and alcohol.
