A heavy duty CNC plasma cutting machine is an industrial thermal cutting system built around a gantry structure, combining computer numerical control with high-amperage plasma arc technology to process thick steel plate. The gantry spans the width of the workpiece, traveling along the bed on precision guide rails, while the cutting torch moves across the gantry. The CNC controller manages motion, torch firing, gas flow, and torch height automatically.

How do I know if the electrode needs replacing?
Check the electrode regularly. The hafnium insert (the silver-colored piece in the center) erodes over time. When the crater is deeper than 1mm, replace the electrode. Signs of a worn electrode include difficult arc starting, unstable arc, and reduced cutting speed. Regular inspection prevents sudden failure during production.
What are the signs that the cooling system needs maintenance?
The machine displays a temperature warning on the CNC screen. The torch may feel hot to the touch. Cutting quality may deteriorate as the power source derates. Check the coolant level and flow rate.
