Overview

A 3060 CNC plasma and flame cutting machine is a dual-process cutting system that handles both plasma cutting for thinner materials and flame (oxy-fuel) cutting for thicker steel plates, giving you a single machine that covers your entire fabrication range. This isn't just a basic cutting table-it's a production workhorse with a 3000mm x 6000mm cutting area, heavy-duty construction, and enough versatility to switch between processes in minutes. At Juliang, we've supplied these dual-torch systems to fabricators who deal with everything from 6mm sheet to 200mm plate, and the feedback is consistent: one machine, two processes, less equipment to buy and maintain.

Built Different: Material and Construction That Last

Let's talk about what makes this machine survive year after year in a real fabrication shop. The frame is built from heavy-gauge welded steel that goes through a stress-relief annealing process after welding. This is critical because when you're cutting with plasma, you generate a lot of heat-and if the frame isn't stress-relieved, it can warp over time, throwing off your cut accuracy. We've seen cheaper tables drift by 1mm or more within the first year. This one stays straight.

The worktable itself is a slatted design with hardened steel support bars that are replaceable individually. You drop a heavy plate and bend a support bar? Swap it out in minutes-no need to replace the whole section. The slats are treated to resist heat damage and stand up to the spatter that comes with plasma cutting.

The gantry is a heavy-duty cast iron construction with dual-drive motors on the Y-axis for synchronized movement across the full 6-meter length. The X-axis and Y-axis both use precision ground linear rails and bearings from HIWIN or similar quality spec. This matters because dual-process machines see more vibration than single-process systems-the gantry design has to handle both the high-speed plasma movements and the slower, high-torque flame cutting moves without losing position.

Two types of cutting methods

Plasma cutting

On the plasma side, you've got a high-power plasma source (120A to 300A options) that cuts mild steel, stainless, and aluminum from 0.5mm up to 35 mm at high speed. It's great for production runs where speed and finish matter.

Flame cutting

On the flame side, you switch to the oxy-fuel torch-oxygen and propane or acetylene-and you can cut mild steel up to 200mm thick. This is where plasma can't compete. Flame cutting is slower but handles the really thick stuff, and it's a reliable process that's been used in shipyards and heavy fabricating shops for decades.

What You Can Actually Do with 3060 CNC Plasma And Flame Cutting Machine

Heavy equipment manufacturing

cutting thick wear plates and structural parts

Railway and transportation

chassis frames and structural supports

Shipbuilding and offshore

handling both thin stiffeners and thick bulkhead sections

Steel service centers

processing both sheet and plate

customer case

One customer in Western Australia runs a steel service center that supplies mining equipment manufacturers. They use this dual-process machine for everything from 10mm diamond plate to 100mm wear plate. Having one machine that handles both processes cut their equipment costs by half and reduced their floor space requirements significantly.

What's the difference between plasma and flame cutting-when do I use which?

Plasma uses an electrical arc and compressed air to melt and blow away metal, cutting most materials from 0.5mm to about 40mm quickly with a clean edge. It works on any conductive metal-steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, galvanized. Flame (oxy-fuel) uses oxygen and a fuel gas (propane or acetylene) to heat steel to its ignition temperature, then a high-pressure oxygen stream burns and blows the molten metal away. Flame is for mild steel only, but it can handle up to 200mm thick and works well on lower-grade steels. Use plasma for speed and versatility, flame for extreme thickness.

Can this 3060 CNC Plasma And Flame Cutting Machine cut stainless steel or aluminum with the flame torch?

No-the flame process relies on an oxidation reaction that only works on steel. For stainless and aluminum, you use the plasma torch. Stainless and aluminum are conductive, so the plasma arc works fine on them. Just switch to the plasma torch with the appropriate gas settings (nitrogen or nitrogen-oxygen mix for stainless/aluminum).

How much floor space do I need, and does it need a foundation?

The machine footprint is about 3800mm wide by 8000mm long, plus additional space for material loading and fume extraction equipment. It's a ground-mount design-no deep foundation required, just a level, reinforced concrete floor. We provide anchor bolt patterns and load requirements in the installation manual.

What's the maintenance like on a dual-process machine?

Routine maintenance includes: cleaning the torch consumables (nozzle, electrode), checking and replacing shield cups on the plasma torch, cleaning the optical lens on the flame torch, checking gas and air supply lines, topping up drive system lubricants, and keeping rails clean. The control system has built-in maintenance reminders. We provide a starter kit of common consumables to get you going.

How long does installation take, and what kind of training do you provide?

The machine arrives in crates; installation takes 2 to 3 days for assembly and setup. We include remote commissioning-one of our engineers connects online to configure parameters and run initial test cuts with you. We also provide detailed documentation, video guides, and 8 hours of operator training covering machine operation, basic maintenance, and nesting software usage. On-site installation is available at additional cost.
