Product overview

Switching from using cold saws and separate drilling machines means you are likely to have to repeatedly measure, cut, deburr, drill, and then deburr again, before finally hoping to achieve a perfect alignment. This approach is inefficient, prone to errors and costly. However, a laser pipe cutting machine offers a better solution. It integrates cutting, drilling, slotting and contour processing into an automated process, directly producing ready-to-assemble parts from the machine, without burrs and without the need for secondary fine processing.

What This Machine Actually Does

You load a metal tube (round, square, or rectangular) into the machine's chucks. As the chucks spin the tube, the cutting head travels along its length, guided by your programmed path from the nesting software. A laser beam melts the metal where it cuts, and high-pressure gas expels the molten material, leaving a clean, precise edge without burrs, mechanical stress, or deformation of thin walls.

This machine isn't limited to straight cuts; it can also create holes, slots, notches, bevels, and intricate shapes all in one go. Just import your CAD drawing, and the machine handles the rest.

Common Faults and Analysis

Residual weld beads at cut seams - Insufficient auxiliary gas pressure or unstable flow rate. Check if the gas source pressure is within the range of 0.5–2.5 MPa. Check for any leaks or blockages in the pipeline. Check if the solenoid valve is functioning properly.

Excessive roughness of the cutting surface - Focus position offset. Check if the cutting head has been impacted, check if the protective mirror and focusing mirror are clean, and check if the cooling system is operating normally causing thermal drift.

Slippage of the pipe - Insufficient clamping force of the chuck or worn-out jaws. Check the hydraulic/air pressure system pressure, check if there is any oil or wear on the contact surface of the jaws. Jaws with a wear depth exceeding 0.5mm should be replaced.

Frequent damage to the protective mirror - Inadequate auxiliary gas purity or insufficient flow rate causing molten material to splash onto the mirror. Check the gas purity (oxygen ≥ 99.5% for carbon steel, nitrogen ≥ 99.99% for stainless steel), check if the gas flow rate meets the process requirements, and check if the cutting parameters cause excessive splashing.

Interrupted light during cutting - The laser temperature is too high, triggering the protection shutdown. Check if the cooling system is operating normally, check if the cooling water temperature exceeds the set value, and check if the water cooling machine's heat dissipation is adequate.

application scenarios

For furniture manufacturing, especially steel frames for chairs, desks, and shelving, the visibility of cuts is important. Laser cutting provides a clean finish that eliminates the need for grinding or polishing, ensuring a professional look.

We specialize in automotive parts like exhaust components, chassis parts, and seat frames. Our one-step process for forming complex parts leads to better assembly accuracy and less need for fixturing.

Structural steel fabricators use these machines for shaping beams and columns, creating hole patterns and saddle cuts for steel structures, piping, posts, and frameworks.

For HVAC and piping systems, we offer tube components. Achieving clean cuts is essential for strong welds and to prevent leaks.

Fitness equipment. Multi-angle, complex-shaped frames that need precise fit-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a laser tube cutter leave any burrs or rough edges?

+

-

No. The laser beam vaporizes the metal, and the high-pressure assist gas blows the molten material away. The resulting edge is clean and smooth, with no burrs. You can weld or assemble parts immediately without any deburring step.

Can it cut stainless steel and aluminum as well as carbon steel?

+

-

Yes. The same machine handles all three. For stainless and aluminum, you use nitrogen as the assist gas. For carbon steel, you can use oxygen for faster cuts or nitrogen for a cleaner edge. The machine settings are adjusted through the control panel.

What happens if the tube I'm cutting has a slight bend or is out of round?

+

-

Most machines have a measuring system that detects tube curvature and adjusts the cutting path to compensate. The machine measures the tube automatically before cutting. If the tube is severely bent or out of round beyond the machine's tolerance, it may not fit through the chucks properly.

Can I cut square tubes with the same chucks as round ones?

+

-

Yes, but you may need to change the chuck jaws. Square tubes require jaws with a V-shape or custom profile to grip the corners. Most machines come with interchangeable jaw sets. Changing them takes a few minutes.
