It's a computer-controlled cutting system that uses a fiber laser beam to slice through sheet metal with precision. The beam travels through a fiber optic cable to the cutting head, where it melts the material while compressed gas blows away the molten residue. You end up with a clean edge that usually doesn't need grinding or deburring.
We made this machine for shops that cut carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, or galvanized sheets day in and day out-and need consistent results without babysitting the equipment.
The gantry, which is the bridge holding the cutting head over the table, is constructed from an aluminum alloy instead of steel on this machine. This choice is deliberate: aluminum provides sufficient rigidity to maintain precision while remaining lightweight, allowing the servos to achieve quick movements without overshooting. A steel gantry would be heavier, resulting in slower operation and making it more difficult to reposition.
The dual-drive motors on each side of the gantry ensure the cutting head remains perfectly perpendicular to the table. Any lag, however slight, will lead to tapered cuts. That's why we employ high-precision racks and pinions with virtually no backlash-this precision is crucial for producing parts that fit rather than ones that end up as scrap.

Less ideal for: Shops exclusively cutting plate thicker than 25mm (plasma or oxy-fuel would be more cost-effective). High-volume runs of very small parts (a specialized high-speed punch or laser with auto-loading would be faster). If budget and space are no issue, a fixed heavy gantry might offer slightly better rigidity for extremely precise tasks.
