01.Why does my weld discoloration look worse than it should?
Discoloration on stainless steel means oxidation-the shielding gas isn't doing its job effectively. Check for gas coverage issues: nozzle too far from the workpiece, gas flow too low, or a damaged nozzle. For titanium and some alloys, you need a trailing shield or purge gas on the backside. Dark blue or gray discoloration indicates excessive heat input-reduce power or increase speed.
02.How do I transport a mobile laser welder safely?
The machine is designed to be moved-it has wheels or a compact form factor. Two people can lift most units into a pickup truck or van. The fiber cable should be coiled loosely, not tightly wrapped. Secure the machine in the vehicle so it doesn't tip during transport. Avoid rough handling-the optical components inside are precision-aligned and shock-sensitive.
03.How do I store the machine when not in use?
Store it in a clean, dry environment with moderate temperature. Cover the machine to protect it from dust. Remove the protective lens from the welding head and store it in a clean container-dust on the lens during storage can cause damage when you power up. Coil the fiber cable with a diameter of at least 20cm-tight coils damage the fiber over time.
04.Can I upgrade the power later if my needs change?
Generally no-the laser source, cooling system, and power supply are matched to the machine's design. You can't easily swap a 1000W source for a 1500W source in the same chassis. If you anticipate needing more power, buy it upfront. The cost difference upfront is less than the cost of buying a second machine later.
